Free List Sorter & Cleaner
Sort lists alphabetically in ascending (A-Z) or descending (Z-A) order, remove duplicate entries, and trim extra whitespace from every line. This all-in-one text list organizer is perfect for cleaning up imported data from spreadsheets, organizing participant names for events, alphabetizing groceries or reading lists, preparing CSV-like content for analysis, and normalizing messy text data before further processing. Each line is treated as a separate item, and the tool instantly shows your total item count so you always know how many entries you're working with.
How to Use
- Paste or type your list into the text area - one item per line
- Choose sort direction (A-Z or Z-A) or skip sorting to only clean
- Toggle Remove Duplicates to eliminate repeated lines
- Toggle Trim Whitespace to strip leading/trailing spaces
- Copy the cleaned, sorted result with one click
Features
- Sort A-Z or Z-A instantly
- Remove duplicate entries with one toggle
- Trim extra whitespace and blank lines
- Real-time item count display
Privacy
All processing happens locally in your browser. No data is transmitted.
Practical Examples
- Spreadsheet cleanup: Paste exported rows, trim whitespace, and remove duplicate names.
- Publishing workflows: Alphabetize glossary terms, resource lists, tags, or bibliography drafts.
- Event planning: Sort attendee names and identify accidental duplicates before printing.
- Developer work: Normalize simple line-based fixtures, config lists, or allowlists before comparison.
Important Limitations
This is a line-based sorter, not a spreadsheet parser. Commas, tabs, and quoted CSV fields are treated as normal text unless they appear on separate lines. Review the result before using it for accounting, legal records, imports, or customer data.
Quick Answer
Paste one item per line, choose sort direction, optionally remove duplicates, and copy the cleaned list. The text is processed locally in your browser.
